Yesterday, once more !!

Again its that time of the year where the department of MHRM at IISWBM works as some 24hour man to make the event a grand success ! Yes .. its time for Genesis 2008 .. !

On the 11th & 13th December 2008, the dept. of MHRM will host its Annual HR Summit, “Genesis”. The theme for this year is “Organizational Flexibility“. When i say Organizational Flexibility and how much it is relevant, i am reminded of a line that i came across in course of my aimless wandering through the pages of the internet, which said,

“flexibility is essential for coping
with organizational problems, like reacting fast to the onslaught of competition,
or to shortage of financial and technological resources in the face of surging
customer demand”

With this idea and realization, Genesis hits the floor this December. Like the custom, this year too, it is going to be a two day event. Day 1 would have “Converge- the Panel Discussion” followed by “Concur”-the gamut of management games. Day 2 is assigned to “Confab- the alumni meet”. We also intend to put up a cultural show on the same evening.

Genesis 2008 would be graced by the presence of Mr. Sandipan Chakravortty,( Chairman, Eastern Region, Confederation of Indian Industries) as the Chief guest for the occasion.

“Concur” is the spread of management games in the platter of Genesis 2008. Innovation and Creativity is what we the students of MHRM have given utmost importance while designing the games.

1. PROF. DIPANKAR BANERJI, trustee & professor, eastern institute of management.

2. MR. TARIT BHOWMIK, global head HR, Fi-Tek private Ltd.

3. MR. R.P. YADAV, CMD, genius consultants Ltd.

4. P. K. CHATTERJEE, Senior Vice President, DUNCAN GROUP LTD.

5. S. C. DHOLE, General Manager, UCO Bank.

The same event would also witness the release of the Departmental journal– “Manav“

“Concur” – will have the host of management games that Genesis 2008 has to offer. Innovation and Creativity is what we the students of MHRM has given utmost importance while designing the games. The platter of games for this year include :

1. tyQoons – the Business Quiz

2. Cut, Copy, Paste!!!- the collage contest

3. inArbit – the arbitrary slides presentation

4. On the Rocks!!! – the impromptu act

5. Erudition – the online paper presentation.

Genesis is inviting all the prominent B schools this time mainly from Kolkata. We are hoping for a positive response from all of them.

“Confab”- is the alumni meet which Genesis has been hosting as a tradition for quite sometime now. A platform where the Alumni members get an opportunity to connect with their alma mater and interact with the present students of the department as well. Confab is actually a wonderful platform to where all the generations of the MHRM family including our esteemed faculty come together to relive the MHRM days.. all over again !!

With this note, i would like to conclude and wish Genesis 2008, all the very best and i am sure together we, the students of MHRM, IISWBM, will make this a gala success, to be reminisced for years to come !!

…..till the end of time…..

yes,that is how i want GENESIS 2008 to be remembered,its been a complete ROCKER!!!…..the panel discussion la’CONVERGE was a illuminating and enriching experience…..the b-skool games were the testimonial to the thundering response that GENESIS has managed to get this time around…..on day 2,the cultural programmes were a packed lot,but each of the different parts carried its own flavour……the dinner n the jam session that followed nicely wraped up a era of excellence viz GENESIS 2008!!!………..

but alas GENESIS was not spotless…….there were some minor loopholes…..but then life is never perfect…..that is why it is worth living….each episode teaches us somthing new,urges us to learn n moove on…..n that is exactly what we ought to do…….we hav come this far becoz we r united as one…..and that is what is important…….n god willing,if we do remain united,then we can continue to proclaim proudly-MHRM ROCKS!!!…….lets hope that we journey into the coming period united and brave……..

finally its D-DAY

its the “morning” of December the 11th(actually is well past midnight!!) as i am writing this, knowing well enough that i shudnt b awake writing this and should b asleep, gathering my energy for the day that lies ahead….but as i am going to step into this day i cant help but be anxious because a lot of pain,hardwork,running around and god knows what else has gone into seeing the light of this day…..i just hope all our collective efforts lead to success that is remembered for a long time……and god willing that shall be the case……i wont do myself more injustice by elaborating more and quickly warp up this post by saying this prayer :

god,let us be successful in our endeavours,let all our efforts lead to results that are positive,bless our cause and lead it on the right path,let everybody be happy at the end of it all and forgive us if we have been faulty in our conduct and outlook in going about organization of this event,Amen……..

………………………….as the day goes on let the light of success shine bright,brighter & brightest!!!……………..

Yes ! This is just the beginning of a journey that we, the MHRM department have embarked on. And with every passing moment, i have a feeling that, the little steps that we are taking together is indeed a Giant Leap, to reach the ultimate. Its like every soul in the department is trying to put in his/her best foot forward. Its as if their life is dependent on the seven letter word.

With Genesis 2008, only a fortnight away, it gives me immense pride for having being the part of this glorious event.. which has brought all of us close enough , to work as a unit, as a team, as MHRM in its entirety !

IN GOD WE TRUST!!

firstup a BIG ‘sorry’ for the american tagline for this post…..but if u believe in it it becomes totally desi!!….

moving on,what really needs mention rit now is that things hav started moving for us right now!!!….the website has been floated…..n its looks fab!!…..the bank account is working seamlessly and there is no problem whatsoever regarding money withdrawl,as was feared…….the modalities hav been printed…..the other documents needed r expected to soon follow suit…..the poster has turned out to b great looking…..there r high profile people who hav agreed to step down to bengal club as panelist……n spaking of bengal club,even the money issue related to the hefty surcharge per person has been partially dealt with,and soon will b completely got rid off!!……many alumni members hav started giving their consent to b present for the alumni meet,al thanks to the die hard efforts of my group members……..and i must also mention their brave duel with the MBA guyz to protect the honour of MHRM…….thy have done us proud….sadly this is not the way anybody wud hav liked the matter to b sorted and in the future v look to a peaceful coexistence with the other departments……BUT MOST OF ALL THE MONEY HAS STARTED FLOWING IN!!!……if i hav been correctly informed then the first advertizement money has already found its way to our hands…….hopefull,god willing,more will follow soon!!!…..MHRM ROCKS….n the coming dayz will further proove it!!!

THE DARK “NIGHT”

as i am writing this its already 2am in the morning on the 22nd of november, i’ve been writing letters for Genesis related stuff(what else?!!)…..its all quiet outside……its also really cool..literally…..n most of all its really dark outside…..but whatever be the scene on the horizon i see a bright light approaching us all…..a light of collective success….of collective happiness…..of collective victory…..a victory against all odds,against all sorts of ‘inter-departmental discrimination’, against time running out, against haywire schedules,and against almost evverything……….its a victory that will be collevtively celebrated….beczuse its not a victory of someone alone….its will be a victory for US all………..

i might have been reckless with my choice of words….but that is what HR has taught me….to speak up where it matters…..to tackle people succesfully….to get the right even in the wrongest of situations…..an most importantly as one of my friend has rightfully pointed out to MANAGE…….

as we progress along the path let usnot forget,its really easy to get lost….to get dillusioned….so let us all be together and make this event a success…….MHRM ROCKS!!….

Genesis, our annual HR summit is back with a bang………..and the THUD gets louder as you approach the most sought after corners in my College.

Be it the Pent House, the Roof top……the Canteen……why even miss out on the classroom………..every bit of it is vibrant with activity galore !!!

so if you think you already are neck-deep into it……………THINK AGAIN??????…………can you not delve deeper and extract more frolic????
